Sacraments

 

Sacramental Preparation

Sacramental Preparation of children is Parish based, not Catholic Central School based. You must be a registered parishioner for your child to receive sacramental preparation and sacraments.

 

Baptism

Parents seeking the sacrament of Baptism for their child must be a registered parishioner. Baptism Preparation class is required for all first-time parents. At least one godparent must be a practicing Catholic, validated by their home parish. To schedule a Baptism please call the Parish Office to register the child and provide all necessary information. Baptisms are scheduled monthly and usually performed by the deacon.

First Eucharist


Second grade students receive catechesis in preparation for the celebration of First Eucharist during the regular school year at Catholic Central Elementary and in CCD religion classes. First Communion is celebrated as a group at St. Teresa normally on the last Sunday of April. A parent information meeting is required in preparation for this sacrament. First Reconciliation


Second grade students receive First Reconciliation during the season of Advent. Catholic school students are prepared for the sacrament at Catholic Central, while all other students are prepared through our CCD program. Students receive the sacrament together during the Advent communal penance service. A Parent Information Meeting is required in preparation for this this sacrament. Confirmation


Students in seventh and eighth grades receive catechesis in preparation for the celebration of Confirmation through parish Confirmation classes. There is a required parent meeting and Commitment Mass for student and parents at the beginning of the preparation year. Each parish has a separate program of special preparation for its students in addition to their regular classes. Attendance is mandatory for the reception of this sacrament. Sponsors must be confirmed, practicing Catholics over the age of 16 years. The sacrament is celebrated biennially with our collaborative, St. Bernard Parish. Marriage/ Weddings


Arrangements must be made at least SIX (6) months prior to the wedding. Pre-Cana is required. Contact Father MacQuarrie at 322-5243
